“Malibu is exciting when you first come up on it because it’s a clear design statement, long and sleek with flowing lines. It’s uninterrupted. It sits well on its wheels. The architecture of Malibu enables us to be expressive with our design, our styling, our thinking, our sketching. It’s an appealing canvas for the automotive designer.
“The stance of Malibu is uncompromised. Our designers were relentless in the pursuit of Malibu having the right stance. These elements are not only aesthetic enablers but ones that draw you into the showroom. They communicate a car that’s poised, of the highest quality, with a performance attitude.”
The 2012 Chevrolet Malibu
With more than 40 awards to its credit, including being named a Consumers Digest "Best Buy" three years in a row from 2009 to 2011, the attractively priced Chevrolet Malibu continues to command attention and acclaim. Is it the combination of strong performance and EPA-estimated 33 MPG highway? Yes and yes.
From its fuel efficiency to its handsome interior to its level of sophistication, Malibu continues to garner such praise as, "Malibu looks wonderful, is solidly built and carefully crafted inside and out. — " Kelley Blue Book's kbb.com
Exterior
People Who Know and Love Cars Love Malibu.
Malibu's sleek exterior exhibits a level of craftsmanship that has earned it the respect of people who know — and love — cars. Available sporty 17" Chrome-Tech and 18" bright-finish aluminum wheels and an available power-tilt/sliding sunroof — those are just a few of the impressive features that accent this midsize sedan's exterior design.
Interior
Meticulous Attention to Quality
From the dual cockpit to the sculpted doors, one thoughtful detail flows seamlessly into the next. You'll be impressed by the nearly microscopic gaps—many as tight as 1mm—in Malibu's interior fit and finish. And you can even feel it because our designers went back and spent countless hours touch-testing seats, door frames, steering wheels, consoles and just about every other surface to make sure everything felt exactly right.
Leather Appointments
The leather-appointed LTZ features a heated driver seat that includes an eight-way power adjuster, while the heated passenger seat offers a six-way power adjuster. There's even a leather-wrapped shift knob and steering wheel for true driving enthusiasts, standard on 2LT and LTZ.
Acoustic Laminated Glass
It will come as no surprise that Malibu was designed to have a superb level of quietness. The acoustic laminated glass and the liquid applied sound deadeners create a barrier to help reduce unwanted road noise.
Power Isn't Limited to the Engine
Power trip anyone? Inside this thoughtfully appointed midsize sedan, you'll find power windows, power-adjustable mirrors, power-programmable door locks, an available Power Convenience Package and even an available power-tilt/sliding sunroof. Everything is conveniently placed right at your fingertips and designed for ease, just the way you like it.
Efficiency
33 MPG Highway
With up to 33 MPG highway3, Malibu LTZ offers up to 528 highway miles on a single fill-up. A 4-cylinder DOHC engine and 6-speed automatic transmission, standard on all models, helps maximize performance and fuel efficiency.
Malibu engines feature Variable Valve Timing (VVT) — an efficiency that optimizes combustion, enhances low-end torque and helps lower tailpipe emissions. A 252-horsepower 3.6L engine with dual overhead camshafts and VVT is available on LT and LTZ. Fuel economy for this V6 engine is 17 MPG city/26 MPG highway.
